About Our Plants
Our focus is to supply well rooted plants in a reasonable size for shipping which will establish readily in your garden. We follow organic practices in our nursery and gardens. Our container sizes are selected based on the specific plant's root systems, and unless otherwise noted in the plant descriptions, are as follows:
- Starter Succulents in 2.5" pots (actually 3" wide, by 2.5" deep) 7.68 oz.
- Larger Succulents and Tender Perennials: 1.25 pt. (4" square pots)
- Perennials and Vines: 1.5 pt. (4.5" square x 4"deep) or 1 qt. (4.5" square x 5.5" deep)
- Trees and Shrubs: 1 qt. (4.5" square x 5.5" deep) 5 pt or trade1/2 gallon (5.25" x 5.95"deep), or 1 gallon
Orders are charged upon receipt, and act as a hold on the plants we reserve for you. Plants are reserved in the order they are received, which means, folks who order early get priority, even if they prefer a late spring shipment.
We do not build shipping costs into the plant prices. We feel hiding shipping costs in the plant price is unfair to customers who prefer to visit the nursery to purchase plants. That being said packing and shipping plants is a very time-consuming process and shipping costs have risen steadily. Because it is such a time consuming process, we have a $30.00 minimum on all orders, excluding shipping.
We ship to the 48 continental US states only. We are unable to ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or foreign countries.
NOTE: UPS will not deliver to P.O. Boxes.

- ZONE 2: $16 + $2 per plant (UPS 3-Day Select) AL AR GA KY LA MN MS TN WI
- ZONE 3: $20 + $3 per plant (UPS 3-Day Select) CO FL* (*needs Phyto certificate!) ID KS MO MT ND NE NV OK SD UT WY
- ZONE 4: $25 + $4 per plant (UPS 3-Day Select) AZ CA TX NM OR WA - these states require special inspections by the MA Department of Agriculture. We need at a minimum of 2 weeks advance notice to get the appropriate inspection and phyto certificates.
We will ship UPS 2nd Day upon request and will quote you the cost of shipping your order. Realize that this option may be exorbitantly expensive.
Our shipping season begins in early April and continues through the summer, weather permitting. Fall shipping begins in early September through October, and into November if weather permits. If the weather is unseasonably warm or cold en route to where you live, we will delay shipping your order until the weather co-operates.
We will do our best to honor your preferred ship date, but be aware that if you order both hardy and tender plants, some of the tender perennials may not be available until late April or early May. If you would you like to receive your hardier perennials in early April and your tender plants later in the season, please complete two separate orders. We will notify you of a confirmed shipping date. Please let us know as soon as possible if this date is inconvenient.
If you live within driving distance, and prefer to pick up your plants at the nursery, we offer a will-call service. Will-call orders need to be prepaid. A confirmation of your pick-up date will be sent when we are sure all the plants will be ready. Please let us know in advance if you need to change your pick-up date.
Changes in Your Order and Cancellations
Shipping plants is quite different than shipping books or clothing. We are dealing with a perishable product that cannot be shipped too wet or too dry, and preferably not right after it has been fertilized. We sometimes need to prune a plant back to make breakage less a problem in transit.
We try to be reasonable and will do our best to accommodate changes to your order, but request that you let us know 2 weeks in advance of your scheduled ship date. We begin to prepare orders for shipping 2 weeks before the scheduled ship date, and last minute changes during the busy season can sometimes cause chaos and mistakes.
Orders may be canceled up to the 2 week period prior to shipping. After that we reserve the right to charge a 50% handling and restocking fee. Orders cannot be canceled once they have been processed for UPS shipping.
Concerns Regarding Availability
We are a very small operation and are not always able to be by the phone. Because of this we do not encourage or accept phone orders. If you are concerned with availability or the status of your order, we prefer that you E-mail us at email@example.com. If you do prefer to reach us by phone at 508-998-8819, please leave your name, phone number and a time you can be reached. We are usually in the nursery during day time hours. We will respond quickly to your correspondence.
When You Receive Your Plants
Please unpack and inspect your plants at once. We guarantee all of our plants to be true to name and healthy when they leave our nursery. Claims on damages incurred during transit should be made immediately and directly to the carrier. Save boxes and packaging should the carrier need to make an inspection. Please notify us in writing of any problems within 7 days of receipt of your order.
We are required to collect applicable sales tax of 6.25% for orders being shipped within or picked up in Massachusetts
